  • Where are you located?
We are located in Unit 4/26 Coromandel Parade, Blackwood, inside the Coromandel House set of units. We are back from the road, so our space is quiet and tranquil. Enjoy a coffee or lunch after your session at the lovely Cafe 1923.
  • Where can I park?
There is plenty of free parking available in the Coromandel House parking area, around the side and back of the building, or on Coromandel Parade.
  • What should I wear?
Clothing you can stretch in is ideal, although clothes that are fitted to the body enable the teacher to see your technique better, rest assured head-to-toe spandex is not required! We recommend you wear Yoga pants and a T-shirt. We also require you to wear grippy clean socks, for hygiene purposes when in the studio. We have grippy non-slip socks available to purchase at the studio. Please avoid wearing zippers as this can tear the upholstery on the equipment as well as minimal jewellery for your safety.
  • What is the difference between Authentic Pilates and Physio/Clinical Pilates
Authentic Pilates is based on the body of work created by Joseph Pilates himself and handed down through the next generation of teachers. It is a flowing and progressive workout that can be adapted to suit all levels and stages. We think the genius of the original system is transformative and empowering in both mind and body. Physio Pilates is recommended if you are working with acute injuries and is designed to be more clinical in nature. Most of us suffer through aches and pains and Authentic Pilates can help to address these issues through correct form and technique. You may be surprised at how quickly you will feel better with a balanced Pilates program. If you are unsure, please give us a call so we can recommend the best course of action for you and your body.
  • How do I manage my online bookings?
Our Pilates Studio Blackwood App is coming soon. If you need help managing your bookings online, please email kim@thepilatesstudioblackwood.com.au to get your questions answered.
  • How often should I come to see results?
Some people can commit to 2-3+ times a week, while others can only commit to once a week. Of course, the more you can do, the faster you will see results in your body. Pilates is designed to complement your other sports or athletic training, so that you can perform better and with fewer injuries in your chosen sport or hobby. If you’re not sure, arrange a time to chat with us over your options. You can choose packages that make it more cost effective if you wish to come multiple times a week.
  • What types of payment do you offer?
We accept Cash, Eftpos, Visa and Mastercard. We have an eftpos terminal at the studio. If you are booking online, you can pay securely with your credit card to make it easier and convenient for you (This means you can book in that session at 3am while watching that infomercial with the terrible Pilates equipment!!)
  • What should I expect in my first session?
In your first session, which is a one-on-one Private session, we will ask you to arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of your session to fill out the studio forms. From there, we will ask you about your goals and go over any injuries or limitations, to build a safe and effective program that suits your level of fitness and experience. In the first session, be prepared to move while you learn the fundamentals of Pilates.
